ABOUT US

Empowering Marginalized Communities in Northern Uganda Since 2003

Our Story

Who We Are and What We Do

Founded in 2003 during the LRA conflict, Upendo UCTS began as a collective of single mothers and widows in Northern Uganda, crafting products to improve livelihoods amidst war, poverty, and HIV/AIDS. From our early days in internally displaced camps, weʼve grown into a community-based organization in Lira, addressing the psychosocial and economic needs of the marginalized. Today, we empower women, youth, and children through education, skills training, and advocacy, with a focus on stopping teenage pregnancies—a pressing issue in Oyam District.

Our History

Founded in 2003, Upendo UCTS has continually worked to empower the underserved in Northern Uganda by focusing on skills development and social justice.

Holistic Development

We focus on comprehensive skill-building and talent development, ensuring individuals gain the resources needed for sustainable livelihoods.

CISU Denmark

We are proud to partner with CISU Denmark and Odense Aftenskole, whose support post-COVID19 has brought hope to girl mothers and communities. Local leaders, including town clerks and cultural figures, also back our initiatives, ensuring community-driven change.

The Haëlla Foundation

The Haëlla Foundation is working in Northern Uganda. As part of its activities in Uganda, Haëlla has established a pilot program that includes forming a “family” of partners specifically in Northern Uganda, alongside another in Central Uganda.
